Imagine a mix between Radiohead, Bloc Party, and Arcade Fire. Now add a little electronic edge (closer to Thom Yorke’s solo work) and substitute in Band of Horses vocals. That is Klaxons. Their first album, Myths of the Near Future, marks a very solid entrance into the indie scene. The album is diverse (at times weird), but it progresses smoothly in a way reminiscent of Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm or Radiohead’s In Rainbows. The album has some innovative tracks like “Four Horseman of 2012,” but the album’s strength lies in the more classic tracks like “Golden Skanks,” “Atlantis to Interzone” (the video below) and “It’s Not Over Yet.” They also just released an amazing new single, “The Night,” worth acquiring however possible – it’s not in iTunes yet. Check out Klaxons, they are probably in my top 10 new indie.
