The Good, The Bad, and the Queen (GBQ), was founded by The Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn. Albarn is assisted by The Clash’s Paul Simonon on bass and The Verve’s Simon Tong. This supergroup combines to create a powerful and addictive indie-punk sound defined by Albarn’s deep and gritty voice. The album – self-titled – has a little bit of everything. “Herculean” with its epic, herculean drive and “Kingdom of Doom” (video below) with its slow, deep chords….Even if you don’t like the Gorillaz (I’m not a huge fan), you should still give GBQ a listen. They really are a perfect compromise between The Gorillaz, The Clash, and The Verve.
